Local Scenery

It was perfect weather for a plunge into Okanagan Lake this summer and many people took advantage of the chance to leap off of the old ferry docks  in Gellatly Bay. This area is a matter of minutes from our home and we have spent many a day enjoying the walkway along the lake.

Local Scenery

On August 1st we were treated by the Canadian Forces Snowbirds officially known as the Royal Canadian Air Force's 431 Air Demonstration Squadron. The Snowbirds are Canada's military aerobatics air show flight demonstration team made up of skill, professionalism and treamwork. The squadron consists of nine 11 CT-114 Tutors. Although there are 80 Canadian Forces personnel on duty, 24 persons travel during the show season.  Their demonstration which lasts approximately an hour is truly a spectacular and unforgetable event.

Then & Now

While we were showing you photos of the southern part of Okanagan our Province has been experiencing record breaking heat with the accompanying dryness. Consequently, as expected we are dealing with a number of aggressive forest fires. Although we ourselves do not appear to be in danger, at least not in the immediate future, our valley is plagued by smoke. The two submissions represent the before and current view taken from our deck.

We are having guests arriving this evening who we expect shall be with us until mid month. As we are keen on spending quality time with our company, we shall be signing off for a period with this writing.

Thank you for visiting our blog and we hope you are all enjoying your summer.

No Smoke

What a difference a day makes. Same photo as taken and submitted on June 4th less the smoke which was moved off by a welcome breeze.
